Host
Meg Wilcox
Before joining MRU’s Journalism faculty full-time in 2018, Meg’s reporting career took her from Ottawa to Iqaluit to the Rockies — and many places in between! For almost a decade, she worked at CBC stations across the country as a producer, newsreader and cross-platform reporter. She was a host on CBC Radio One, 2, and 3, and developed programming for CBC Music. Meg covered federal politics as part of the Parliamentary Press Gallery with iPolitics, and was part of the team that founded Banff Centre Radio.
Meg’s passion is for long-form narrative storytelling — particularly podcasting. In addition to teaching the first-year flagship reporting course, she developed and teaches the program’s first podcasting class.

Julie Mooney
A national award-winning educator, her experience includes teaching at the college and university levels, training trainers of United Nations Peace Keepers in English and French West and Central Africa, and working in the Refugee Resettlement Sector in Canada. With a background in both Education and Peace Studies, her most recent research explores learning communities as sites for faculty development and as a framework for supporting innovation in higher education.

The Academic Development Centre
The Academic Development Centre (ADC) is committed to fostering teaching excellence and innovation in support of learning.
Faculty and staff of the ADC offer professional development services, initiatives, and programs to the Mount Royal University (MRU) community to support classroom and online teaching, the use of learning technologies for faculty and students, curriculum development and principles of assessment, scholarly teaching and scholarship of teaching and learning, web-based instructional design, media production, and audio/video/web conferencing.
We value a spirit of learning through collaboration and community with a view to providing support and service in a responsive and proactive manner, by following the principles and practices of innovation and creativity and ensuring that evidence-based and scholarly practices inform our work.

MUSIC
Trevor Day earned a Ph.D. in Respiratory Neurobiology (University of Calgary) and is currently an Associate Professor of Physiology in the Department of Biology at Mount Royal University. His research interests include the integration and interactions between the heart, lungs and brain in response to stressors in humans (e.g., body position, high altitude, sedentary behaviour). Trevor is a multiple-award-winning scholar, notably a recipient of the MRU Distinguished Faculty Award, and most recently a NSERC Discovery grant. As a musician, Trevor collaborates on various projects, including live science-music productions with veteran science broadcaster Jay Ingram and his band the “Free Radicals.”
Steve Dodd is a Calgary-based composer who has written roughly a thousand pieces for films, documentaries and network television shows worldwide.
Josip Vulic is a Calgary-born musician who was raised by very musical Croatian parents within the Croatian community. For 17 years, he has been the local, traditional wedding singer for this community. He credits his family and the Croatian community for all his creative ways. He continues to perform as a vocalist, bassist, and guitarist in a number of groups within the Calgary music scene.
PRODUCTION
Hadeel Abdel-Nabi is Teaching Strides’ Assistant Producer. She is a journalism student and audio enthusiast. She loves merging storytelling with the emotion that audio evokes and believes that podcasting is the future of media!
PRODUCTION AND SOUND ENGINEERING (Seasons 1-3)
Jim Baillies is a Media Producer in the Academic Development Centre at Mount Royal University. Jim has diplomas in Photography from Dawson College in Montreal and in Film Production from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary. Jim has also studied Jazz Guitar at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton and has keen interest in music and the arts.
